Mayor Geraldo Luglug formed the COVID-19 Action Team to lead in the implementation of health protocols and other guidelines in the municipality.
Luglug explained that Hingyon recorded an increasing number of COVID-19 cases for the past weeks so drastic measures need to be taken to lessen the local transmission.
“There is a need to create an action team in the implementation of health protocols due to the rampant violations among the constituents,” Luglug stated.
Municipal Councilors Hazel Gayamo and Joel Tuguinay are designated as team leader and co-team leader, respectively while the Sangguniang Bayan members are assigned to the different barangays.
The COVID-19 Action Team will monitor the measures and actions taken by the punong barangays and the barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) in the prevention, containment and control of COVID-19.
The team will set-up also a barangay information or call center to facilitate the reporting of COVID-19 suspects and contacts and for the dissemination of COVID-19-related information
As of May 6, 2021, the Provincial Health Office reported that Hingyon ranks third provincewide in the number of COVID cases with a cumulative total of 478 confirmed cases with 301 recoveries, 174 active cases and three deaths.
The municipality also recorded one UK variant case, a male from barangay Piwong. He is on quarantine and all close contacts are scheduled for re-swabbing. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
