In partnership with some local government units and donors, the IYA has set up the “Ifugao Good Samaritan Pantry” (IGSP) in the municipalities of Banaue, Kiangan, Lagawe and Lamut.
Inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry, the IGSP promotes “Share what you have and get what you need.” All those who may need basic goods are invited to visit the community pantries while “good Samaritans” or donors or those who have anything to share are encouraged to do so.
The IGSP in Kiangan is located in front of old Guinid's ricemill, intersection at Poblacion; in front of the municipal police station in Poblacion, Banaue; in front of the MAGS' Office in Poblacion Lagawe and Livelihood Center in Poblacion West, Lamut. These are open from 8:00 AM to 6:00PM.
The organizers remind that anyone going to the IGSP should wear their face mask and face shield and observe social distancing.
Community pantries will also be established in other municipalities upon the approval of local and other concerned officials for a more strengthened partnership.
The IYA assured that all monetary donations will be properly accounted, and that their activities are upfront.
“Everything that we do are properly coordinated with concerned authorities. We would like to reiterate that we are a member of the Provincial Peace and Order Council of our province, thus promotes peace and order and defies any form of destabilization,” the IYA stated. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
