San Juan completes ECQ 'ayuda' distribution in 21 barangays

CALOOCAN CITY, April 17 (PIA) -- A little over a week after receiving the funds, San Juan City has already completed the distribution of cash aid or "ayuda" during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from the National Government with 17,597 families getting 1,000 pesos for each family member up to 4,000 per family in 21 barangays.

The local government has already disbursed a total of P58.139 million. Each barangay was given a day for the schedule of disbursement, which was done in their respective barangay halls and administered by staff from City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Treasury Department with uniformed personnel ensuring that safety and health protocols are being observed.

“I am thankful that the disbursement was executed smoothly and safely in the entire city as planned,” said Mayor Zamora who personally inspected the payouts in all 21 barangays.

Those who benefitted from the ECQ ayuda were the SAP 1 and 2 beneficiaries including those in the SAP waitlist and the beneficiaries of the 4Ps, all of whom were included in the official list from the DSWD.

However, there were beneficiaries who weren’t able to claim their ayuda as scheduled. Out of the 18,990 families in the list, only 17,597 got their respective cash assistance.

The local government made sure that the disbursement will be completed within the day, even lasting close to midnight in a few barangays. While two big barangays took days.

“Some were not able to claim the cash assistance as scheduled, possibly because they are in quarantine or have been locked down in other areas, but we are still giving them a chance to claim it, after all, para sa kanila naman talaga ito. I also commend the staff of each barangay, our employees from CSWD and the Treasury Department and the PNP and BFP personnel, POSO and TFD for their efforts and sacrifice as we really had to execute the whole disbursement process as safely as possible within reasonable speed" Mayor Zamora said.

The remaining funds will be allotted to those who have not been included in the previous cash ayuda but were qualified and assessed as low-income individuals , PWDs and solo parents, based from the city and barangay database.

Those who have filed with and enlisted in the grievance committee for verification and have already been verified as qualified for the ayuda will also be receiving cash assistance. As of press time the verification team is still completing the process to determine the final list of beneficiaries.

“We still have to complete the verification to ensure that the cash assistance will be given to low-income individuals who need it more and to those who have been greatly affected by the pandemic, hopefully, we can finish it today and start the disbursement tomorrow”, he added.

The individuals in the final list received 1,000 pesos each as this secondary listing is not family-based unlike the first one since there is no validated data available on the number of family members of those in the list as compared to the SAP 1 and 2 beneficiaries and those waitlisted who have previously filled up social amelioration cards indicating the number of their family members.
