Gov Padilla extends temporary closure of NV Capitol until April 16

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 12 (PIA) - Governor Carlos Padilla has extended the temporary closure of the Provincial Capitol in this town until April 16.

Padilla made the extension due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the provincial capitol offices, aside from various barangays of the 15 towns of the province.

Dr. Edwin Galapon, provincial health officer said the offices within the Provincial Capitol such as the Provincial Jail has 67 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who were infected with the COVID-19 including five jail guards.

He said the Governor's Office-Administrative Division also has two cases, Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) with five cases and the Provincial Accounting Office (PAO) with one case.

The Provincial Jail has temporarily prohibited visiting hours for the PDLs while their needs are being subsidized by the provincial government.

"The COVID-19 cases at the Provincial Jail are asymptomatic and mild. They are being treated as of the moment," Galapon said.

He added that there is now a decreasing number of new cases which are being added to the previous cases which are still covered by the 14-day quarantine.

As of April 10, total COVID-19 active cases in the province is at 557, with 62 total deaths and 147 new cases.
