The Provincial Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of Abra Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) launched livelihood projects and training programs in Brgy. Ud Udiao in Sallapadan.
Brgy. Ud Udiao is one of the identified priority areas under the Retooled Community Support Program. Brgy. Ud Udiao can only be reached by a 4-wheel-drive pick-up vehicle, military trucks or motorcycle due to the unpaved, one-way road. From Brgy. Poblacion, Sallapadan, it will take another two hours to reach this far flung barangay which has no available cellular network.
During the launching program, Technical Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) offered skills trainings that residents can avail for free, such as Carpentry NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, and entrepreneurship trainings. After the completion of these trainings, they will apply these skills which will eventually lead to the establishment of the barangay’s “Post-harvest Facility”, which is the main output of the project.
National agencies that include the Department of Trade and Industry, Dept. of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Dept. of Labor and Employment, Provincial Government of Abra, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Dept. of Public Works and Highways, Dept. of Agriculture, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Philippine Information Agency and Dept. of the Interior and Local Government also presented their programs and services relative to livelihood and employment which may be availed by the residents of the barangay.
Sallapadan Mayor Garde Cardenas expressed his gratitude to the efforts of the PRLEC.
This initiative of the government will set a sustainable livelihood project in place for the community through the collective efforts of PRLEC member agencies. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
