
DOH – Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Dr. Amelita Pangilinan reported that four DOH teams from Cordillera and Regions 1, 2 and 3 arrived in this town Sunday, and immediately set out to work setting up first an Incident Command System (ICS) post.
The DOH teams already conducted contact tracing and swabbing of test specimen from around 160 individuals yesterday, she said.
With some of the COVID positive cases already third generation contacts of the UK variant cases, contact tracing continues and will be expanded up to three generations of contact of the new confirmed cases, she said.
Pangilinan explained that all the contact tracing and swabbing samples that will turn out positive will be subjected for testing at the Philippine Genome Center to check if these are of the UK variant of COVID – 19.
DOH Undersecretary Rosario Vergiere, in a press briefer today, reported that 34 contacts of the 12 UK variant cases here have tested positive for COVID.
Meantime, Regional Task Force COVID – 19 Chairperson and Civil Defense Cordillera Regional Director Albert Mogol, in an interview reported that a team from the National Task Force and the Bases Conversion Development Authority is own its way to Mountain Province to conduct Aggressive Community Testing (ACT) in Bontoc and the municipalities of Bauko and Sagada.
Mogol also shared that through the Oplan Kalinga, the NTF COVID – 19 is also assisting in contracting hotels and other facilities that can be used as Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs). So far, a 30 – bed capacity TTMF in Samoki, Bontoc has already been worked out.
Mogol also assured that the Cordillera RTF COVID – 19 is strictly coordinating with DOH and the concerned local government units to look on the logistic support that they need.
Based on the January 24 data of the Provincial Health Office, there are a total of 616 confirmed COVID – 19 cases in the province with 421 active, 192 recoveries and two deaths. Bontoc has the most cases with 373 where 278 are active cases, 73 have recovered and two died. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
