Provincial engineers from 4 CAR provincesundergo training on Constructors Performance Evaluation System to ensure quality implementation of infra projects
The CPES is a tool to help ensure the quality and timely delivery of infrastructure projects and improve performance of contractors. It ensures that infrastructure projects conform with the specified requirements of project owners.
“Another is to accredit quality control experts for the province by the Department of Trade and Industry’s - Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (DTI-CIAP) through its implementing arm, the Philippine Domestic Construction Board (PDCB),” Adong said.
“But this only happens after undergoing on-site project validation and passing the field test,” Adong said adding that if they pass, they will be accredited as CPES evaluators. Their accreditation will have three years validity.
Accredited CPES evaluators can conduct cross validation or inter-province validation and can conduct CPES on their own if requested.
The CPES rating of constructors is required for post qualification of contractors, quality improvement, and other purposes of government agencies, project owners, financing and insurance companies and other interested parties.
Adong said three provincial engineers passed the test after an on-site assessment on the implementation of the Dalnacan-Mangali CMGP road project. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga) By Peter A. Balocnit
