Revenue District Officer Dominga Banggao explained that because of government’s aggressive tax efforts, there is also a need to upgrade staff capability and performance.
For 2018, RDO-11 covering Kalinga and Apayao provinces, has collection target of .P700 million.
With the given target, the revenue office doubled its tax campaign in all the 15 towns and city in its area of coverage, Banggao said.
Part of their effort, Banggao said, is the continuing tax map to expand list of tax payers.
She called on tax payers to pay right taxes promptly explaining that tax is the lifeblood of government.
Tax sources from the two provinces come mostly from tax withheld on income both from salary and business comprising about 80 percent of the total tax generated, she said.
Although there’s high tax collected from government project contracts under the “Build, Build, Build” program, this is paid directly to BIR-head office through DPWH, she said. By Larry T. Lopez (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
