Administered by Mayor Joselito Guyguyon, the mass wedding was witnessed by their parents, godparents, relatives, municipal employees and the community.
The free mass wedding is institutionalized activity every February pursuant to a municipal ordinance enacted in 2015 to enable couples who cannot afford the cost of marriage to make their union legal. It is also part of the culminating activity for February as National Registration Month so that the newly married couples can register their children.
Guyguyon told the newlyweds to protect, preserve and nurture their marriage and their families, for family is love. He advised them to be faithful to their marital vows and be always guided by the biblical meaning of marriage founded by love and to stay together in sickness and in health, for poorer or better.
He reminded them that this civil marriage ceremony will make their union be recognized and accepted by the community and society and their children will be legitimate.
The newlyweds were given gifts by the municipal government and a free public lunch was provided. (JDP/DBC- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
