At least 200 OFWs from the different municipalities of the province got the chance to share the culture they have experienced abroad during the OFW Day spearheaded by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Local Government Unit, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Provincial Planning and Development Office.
The event featured bits of the culture of the top eleven countries most frequented by OFWs through booths, song and dance presentations, and various cuisines.
OWWA Family Welfare Officer Flordeliza Dumangeng said the ‘Algon di Nunbaat’ which was part of the 2018 Gotad Ad Ifugao, had three contested activities namely cultural presentation, booth, and cuisine contest.
Provincial Migrant Desk Officer Charito Pulao explained that the 2018 ‘Algon di Nunbaat’ is well-organized since the criteria for the contested events have been drawn up by the Ifugao OFW Organization officers.
The ‘Algon di Nunbaat’ was topped by the municipality of Kiangan, Lagawe at second, and Asipulo in third place.
“We hope other municipalities will join the next OFW Day,” Pulao said as she encouraged other municipal local government units for support and participation. (PIA CAR)
