Real change requires positive mindset, attitude

LAGAWE, Ifugao, April 4 (PIA) - - “Real change must really begin with changing our attitude and mindset.”

This was the message of   Dr. Eva Marie C. Dugyon, President of the Ifugao State University (IFSU), to hundreds of women during the culmination of the 24th Provincial Women’s Day here.

“True enough, it is not incompetence that holds us back, women, to be living to a new level, but it is confidence , that we often lack. And this needs to change by resetting our mindset,” Dugyon stressed.

She further stated that women cannot get a growth mindset by mere proclamation but rather move toward it by taking a journey.

“Biographies of eminent women around the globe tell us that they achieved greatness because they journeyed in life with positive mindset believing that their potential always outweighs their limitations and that they can make difference in their own sphere of influence,” Dugyon said.

She also reiterated that as empowered women, they know their worth, and need to put an end to fear and in that dull their sentiments and sensibilities.

“Let’s wear that confidence and courage, knowing the Creator has called us for a purpose,” she enjoined.

The IFSU president also recognized men who are working partners of women for change.

“We can make change work for women if we change our paradigm by changing our roles to be able to see the world differently,” Dugyon said to the men.

The two-day event with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women” started with contests on chorus and modern dance and a colorful parade with delegates from the 11 municipalities showcasing their unique and rich cultural identity. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
