Evasco, who spearheaded the Cordillera leg of the regional roll – out of “Biyaya ng Pagbabago” at the Benguet State University here last July 7, explained that President Rodrigo Duterte is pushing for an honest- to -goodness attempt to protect the people and to achieve the Filipino people’s aspirations for a better life and a peaceful environment to live amidst challenges from various sectors.
“Despite all the challenges and difficulties, we continue to commit to protect you, people of the Philippines,” he said.
Government programs and services, privileges and benefits from any agencies and institutions are already there, which is why the government through the CabSec and the Office of Participatory Governance are now working hard to connect the people and in bringing down such programs and services down the people, especially those who need it most, Evasco said.
“Our aspirations for change (for a better life and better country) will not happen if we expect President Duterte to do it for us or expect the heads of agencies and department to do it for you. It will only happen if you do it on your own. You are the factors of change. The initiator of change,” he stressed.
Office of Participatory Governance Undersecretary Joselito Libres outlined that the “Biyaya ng Pagbabago” campaign aims to bring the effective delivery of services through the proper and fastest way as directed by the President.
“The President wants to address the poverty concerns of the country. Under his administration’s Philippine Development Plan (2017 – 2022), the President aims to reduce the the poverty incidence from 21.6 percent to 14 percent, and that translates to bringing in around 6 million Filipinos out of the poverty line before his term ends,” Libres said.
“As citizens of this country, we also play a big role in helping the government achieve such goal. We should not wait for the government programs and services to make it happen, we should cooperate and actively participate in making such goal a reality. We should help our President, our Cabinet Secretary and all the government agencies to make it happen,” he stressed.
For the Biyaya ng Pagbabago roll out, USEC Dave Cabrera also gave an orientation on President Duterte’s 8888 Citizen’s Complaint hotline while Department of Finance Assistant Secretary Antonio Joselito Lambino II provided a presentation on the government’s Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN.
Government agencies also provided programs and service booth for the participants and the public during the said forum. (PIA CAR)
