The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office recognized all persons with disability (PWD) who are talented painters in the province of Abra through the Abra PWD art exhibit at the Governors’ Gallery, Provincial Capitol.
The artworks of three Abrenean painters-Jerry Tubig from Bangued, Amado Balneg from Tayum and Arlyn Sabaot from Pidigan- are on display in the exhibit.
Balneg shared in an interview that he has been mastering his painting technique with both arms amputated more than 20 years now. His painting service is in demand during big occasions in the municipality of Tayum. One of his most treasured artwork is the painting of the popular Tangadan tunnel of Abra.
Nelda Dupingay, the PWD focal person, said this activity is one of the efforts of government in uplifting the economic and social welfare of PWDs in the province. It also supports the week-long celebration of the “Rambak ti Kappia” by the provincial government.
The 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week aims to raise awareness on the needs and capabilities of PWDs and making them more productive, self-reliant, and empowered to participate as active citizens in contributing development of the economy. (PIA Abra)
