PLGU aims to forward tourism in Bangued

BANGUED, Abra, July 19(PIA) -- The provincial local government unit aims to foster the tourism industry first in this capital town in order to display an opening image of Abra’s tourism.

Provincial Tourism Officer Allan Pormento convened with the Tourism Council of Bangued regarding tourism industry development. It is important, he said, to boost first the tourism industry of Bangued in order to impress and attract local and foreign tourists who have to stay for the duration of their travel in the province.

He also discussed transport operations development, accreditation of hotels and accommodations in Bangued and tourism trainings for the locality.

The development of transport operations and the possible establishment of tourism transportation central stations in the area is one goal that the local government may be putting up soon. The people could assist tourist to their destinations around Bangued, he added.

Accommodation also contributes to a stable tourism industry. It makes sure that tourists enjoy comfort during their stay here.

Pormento reported that very few hotels are accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) so he recommended the tourism council to encourage all hotels in Bangued to undergo hospitality trainings under the DOT in order to fulfill the minimum requirements for DOT accreditation.

Abra tourism can also benefit the LGUs where the tourist spots are situated. It will give more chances of employment for the people as local tour guides.

Pormento expressed his hopes that eventually, Abra will be a tourism hub with the continuous efforts and coordination of the LGUs. (JDP/MTBB/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
