During the 1st Quarter meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) last week, it was reported that PDEA is exerting utmost efforts to reduce the drug supply activities by implementing the Barangay Drug Clearing Operations as mandated by the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017.
The PDEA continues to arrest high value targets including the neutralization of marijuana plantation and supplies that is primarily affecting the youth.
On the part of the PPOC, the body agreed to reorganize the Provincial Drug Abuse Council to include more members such as the Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court, the provincial head of the Department of Health, and the head of the Provincial Probation and Parole Office.
Mayor Rosalina Biscarra of Luba presented her town’s integrated barangay/community-based anti-criminality, anti-drugs, and anti-insurgency program, which other LGUs can adopt.
Dubbed as L.U.B.A. which stands for Laban sa krimen at droga Ugnayang pulis at Barangay Aasahan, it aims at empowering the communities to develop a sustained, consistent, integrated and concerted efforts for an effective crime prevention and drug control program as center stage of maintaining its internal peace and order with the participation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the area.
Biscarra reported that their community-based drug rehabilitation and wellness program has already graduated 13 drug surenderers in December 2018, nd they continue monitoring their activities.
Governor Ma. Jocelyn V. Bernos also proposed that the LGUs of Bucay and Tayum share their experiences in managing their respective Balay Silangan, a drug reformation facility, during the next quarterly meeting of the PPOC/PDAC for the other LGUs to replicate in order to push the anti-drug campaign.
