Cordillera police seize drugs worth P500,000

CORDILLERA police seized P537,000 worth of illegal drugs and arrested five drug transporters and a drug pusher during an operation Monday afternoon, April 24.

 

Personnel of Sadanga Municipal Police Station, Mountain Province intercepted four suspects along Sitio Ampawilen, Sadanga, in the afternoon of April 25. Suspects were identified as Robin Ayco Jacob, 25, businessman, a resident of San Francisco, Biñan, Laguna, Pedro San Antonio Gonzales, 48, Marvin Pastora Martir and Lister Ayzlei Pangilinan Allada all natives and residents of Biñan, Laguna.

Police said the suspects were aboard a Mazda vehicle which came from Kalinga Province going towards Bontoc, Mountain Province when they were captured. Police seized 10 rolled marijuana leaves and 10 bricks of marijuana leaves weighing a total of 17.4 kilos with a dangerous drug board value of P435,000.

On the other hand, a woman was nabbed in a drug-bust operation at her residence also in Monday. The drug pusher is a 19–year–old resident of Ferguson Road.

Seized from the lady pusher were three sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride also known as "shabu" weighing 17 grams with a dangerous drug board value of P102,000, digital weighing scale, and two ladies' wallet containing several IDs and receipts.

EMB-CAR warns local officials on solid waste compliance

BAGUIO CITY  – The Cordillera office of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-CAR) warned local officials regionwide that they can be imposed a fine of up to P1 million or they could be imprisoned for up to six years once they continue to disregard their mandated compliance to the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, specifically the closure of open dumpsites and the establishment of environmentally acceptable solid disposal facilities.
