DOLE awards livelihood to KIA, WIA beneficiaries

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 30 (PIA) --The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial office here awarded P20,000.00 financial assistance to each of the five beneficiaries of security forces who were either killed-in-action (KIA) or wounded-in-action (WIA).

 

Lourdes Canseco of DOLE said KIA beneficiries are Rowena Albino and Ginalyn Madalang while WIA -recipients are Freddie Anggaco, Jake Madarang and Imelda Maiyao.

The five beneficiaries invest the money on piggery which falls under agribusiness.

Canseco said livelihood project beneficiaries under the Kabuhayan Program include victims of armed conflicts.

“We ensure that none of the children of the livelihood beneficiaries are engaged in child labor,” she said.

Other eligible projects are health and wellness, eco-tourism and support to tourism, manufacturing, small transport, wholesale and retail trade, local based industries, coffee, coco-coir, cacao, and rubber. (PIA Kalinga)
