DSWD releases P7.5M cash aid to Tabuk senior citizens

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 31 (PIA) --The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had released P7.524 million under its Unconditional Cash Transfer Program to senior citizens, here.

 

Bella Manuel of Tabuk City Social Welfare and Development Office said 3,135 indigent and frail senior citizens got P2, 400 annual cash assistance each.

 In Tabuk more than 10,000 senior citizens are registered but only 3,135 qualified of the aid.

Qualified beneficiaries get monthly cash support of P200 on-top of DSWD’s regular social pension to senior citizens.

City Mayor Ferdinand B. Tubban commended the elderly who still are actively involved in community projects even at their retirement years.

Under its own program, the city government sponsors monthly social pension and provides mortuary and livelihood assistance to senior citizens. (PIA Kalinga)
