25-bed hospital to rise in Kalinga

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 27 (PIA) -- Construction of the 25-bed Gabriela Mija Kim Medical Center will start following its groundbreaking recently led by Gov. Jocel Baac and witnessed by barangay officials.

The provincial government alloted P5 million for its Phase I. Additional funds for its completion will be sourced from the national government and local funds.

Provincial Health Officer Romulo Gaerlan said building an infirmatory hospital at the eastern part of this city aims to decongest the provincial hospital. This is in line with the health development agenda of the provincial LGU putting in place the needed facilities alongside an intensified prevention program.

The first constructed building was donated by the Medical Peace Foundation of Korea in 2007 and named it Gabiela Mija Kim Medical Center.

In a related development, construction of the three-storey Kalinga Childrens Ward besides the provincial hospital is also on-going. The building will cater to other services such as laboratory and doctor’s clinic to maximize its function being a multi-purpose facility. (PIA Kalinga)
