DOLE pays SPES counterpart in Kalinga

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 13(PIA)-- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has  paid the salaries of  the  616 of the total 1,596 students employed under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) last summer.

 

Anthony Luminang of DOLE provincial office here said the release of the partial counterpart amounting to P1.6 million released early this July is much earlier than previous years or barely two months after employment period.

In previous years, it takes five to six months after employent period or up to November to pay the students’ wages.

“Thanks to the coopertation of Public Employment Serives Office managers who fastracked the completion and submission of supporting documents and even students for comlying with the requirements,” Luminang said.

He said the employers have also released their counterpart. “In fairness to the employers, yes they are ahead of DOLE in releasing their counterpart,” Luminang said.

 

He said they are working for the release of their remaining counterpart in order to pay students before enrolment this coming semester. (PIA Kalinga)
