Lawmen confiscate lumber in Kalinga, apprehend 2 suspects

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, April 13 (PIA) -- Law enforcers confiscated about 17,848.16 board feet of lumber with an estimated value of P803,167.50 from two suspects at Ubbog, Magsaysay this city.

 

By virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Victor Dalanao, personnel from the Tabuk Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), policemen, the military and members of the Bantay Gubat jointly carried out the raid.

They also apprehended two alleged owners of the 1,233 pieces of assorted lumber, who were charged in court by the PNP for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.

 CENRO foresters said this is the fourth confiscation they made this year on illegally exploited forest products and the biggest haul.
