2000 join CSC Unity Walk in Kalinga

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Sept. 20 (PIA) -- More than 2,000 national and local employees and officials in the province joined the “Unity Walk” last Friday to mark the 117th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service.

The walk was followed by a program at the provincial capitol gym where each participant dropped a P50 donation to Civil Service Commission’s Pamana Lingkod Bayani fund given as financial assistance to families of public employees including police personnel who met untimely demise while performing their duties.

CSC-Kalinga Provincial Director Ruben Wacas said the annual nationwide celebration puts to the limelight employees in government who should be recognized as heroes in their own simple feat through dedicated and honest service.

As public servants, Wacas urged the participants to be models of exemplary performance now being demanded to push the nation forward.

“Putting ahead public service let us always be inspired to deliver the best for our country and constituents,” Wacas said.

He also reminded government employees of the substance of the Civil Servant Code, making it an everyday vow.

The month-long observance with the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Pagbabago: Malasakit ng Lingkod Bayani” also features sports activities, hataw fitness, beauty treat and jobs fair. (JDP/ Larry T. Lopez-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
