DOLE conducts career guidance for Kalinga students

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Aug. 8(PIA) - - Personnel of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial office here made the rounds last week on secondary schools to conduct career coaching and labor market information for graduating students including those enrolled under the K to 12 program.

 

Visited were high schools in Balbalan, Pasil, Lubuagan and Tinglayan.

DOLE Provincial Head Alexander Gumabol said this program is done to prepare and guide students in choosing their career path based on in-demand occupations for the next five to ten years.

He said a Career Guide provides basic information on the occupations identified in the latest labor market signaling study of DOLE, Project JobsFit: The DOLE 2020 Vision. It features the in-demand jobs/careers viable in the next five to ten years.

The Career Guide describes the basic education requirements of a job, skills and competencies, attributes and characteristics, salary/compensation, prospect for career advancement, employment opportunities and cost of education or training.

It seeks to aid and supplement students and jobseekers alike, with current information on particular jobs to make informed decisions about their chosen careers.

Meanwhile, Gumabol informed that they released during their week-long sorties wages of students who worked under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) during the summer vacation months.

They also met with members of DOLE-registered people’s organizations who are also their partners and beneficiaries on livelihood projects relative to operation and status of their DOLE-assisted enterprise and proposals. Peter A. Balocnit(JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
