DPWH Upper Kalinga District works on gaps along Kalinga-Mt. Province road

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 28 (PIA) - - The Upper Kalinga District of the Department of Public Works and Highways is working on the gaps along the national highway from this city to Kalinga-Mountain Province boundary in Tinglayan.

The amount of P193 million is allocated to pave and improve the five-kilometer of gaps mostly along the Lubuagan-Tinglayan section of the national road.

It can be recalled that the implementation of the more than P1 billion road project during the administration of former Pres. Arroyo  incurred gaps due to unreasonable demands of individuals on road right-of-way claims.

Tinglayan local government unit, for its part, created a local peace corps tasked to talk with claimants to resolve issues and settle demands. This move has paved way for contractors to pursue the completion of the remaining gaps.

Work in the Lubuagan side of the road is also on-going.

Upper Kalinga Asst. District Engineer Theodoro Owek assured that they are doing all means for the smooth completion of the project. Peter A. Balocnit (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
