CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, July 4(PIA) - - The celebration of the Environment Month in this province concluded with an inter-agency clean up drive.

Karen Razelle Duyan, Information Officer of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office,  said  the   roadside clean up drive  was participated by employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation Office, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Civil Service Commission and Department of Science and Technology.

The group was able to collect eight garbage bags of biodegradable materials, five big cans non-biodegradable materials like plastic bottles, tin cans, candy wrappers and disposable baby diapers.

The civil servants also cut  grasses and cleaned  the road. The DENR signage located at the junction was also re-painted.

During the opening of this year’s celebration, a total of 180 seedlings of narra and mahogany were planted in an area of 1,080 square meters at the DENR’s Arboretum located in Callagdao.

The activity was in partnership with DPJ Engineers and Construction Company, a locally-based private firm engaged in energy development as part of their social responsibility and in compliance to Executive Order No.  26 requiring every individual to plant at least 10 seedlings a year.
