Kalinga dads enjoin citizens to help liberate country vs terrorism, crimes and poverty

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, June 13 (PIA) - - Local leaders led yesterday the 119th Independence Day celebration in the province  enjoining Filipinos  to put essence to the struggles of those who sacrificed  their lives for  country to gain independence, and to  help  liberate the enemies of the state against terrorism, crimes and poverty.

Congressman  Allen Jesse Mangaoang stressed  that  what  the Filipinos  are and what  Filipinos enjoy today, ‘we owe this to past heroes of the land who offered their own lives for the nation.’

“Why we enjoy freedom and opportunities now in the country is because of the love and martyrdom of our heroes who repelled foreign domination more than a century past,” Mangaoang said.

‘Let us continue to put essence to their struggle by living-up today to their cause and help eliminate the enemies of the nation like what we face now in Marawi,’ he added.

Acting Governor   James Edduba  spelled the context of Independence as freedom from social ills and anything that impedes national interest.

‘Let us join the national platform of change that would push the country and economy for the interest of all Filipinos’,  he enjoined.

Meanwhile, Tabuk City Mayor Ferdinand B. Tubban lauded all those who lost their lives so that the country would be free from foreign clutches.

‘Remembering our great heroes today inspires us to give our support to the government in its struggle to liberate the enemies of the state against terrorism, crimes and poverty’, Tubban said.

The 119th Independence Day  theme was  “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin”.(JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
