Kalinga dev’t council proposes P1.3B –worth tourism roads

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, June 8 (PIA) - - The Provincial Development Council (PDC) through its infrastructure committee proposed a total of P1.3 billion tourism road projects under the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) convergence program.


Gleaned from the presentation of the infra sector, the projects will   have tremendous impact on the lives of communities like employment and livelihood.

In Balbalan, P144 million is proposed for the Bolo-Nawoy access road leading to their rice terraces. Another P16M is proposed for the opening of Uguid Subterranean Tourist Destination Access road.

In Pasil, P541M is proposed for the Balatoc-Batong Buhay-Colayo road leading to natural attractions along the so-called Aguinaldo Trail like the Kadamayan mysterious falls, hotsprings, rice terraces, sulfur canyon mountains, and Batong Buhay ruins. Along the Colayo trek are also falls, rice terraces, hot springs, eco park and eco-cave.

In Rizal is the Macutay-Greenhills-San Pedro and San Vicente Access Road leading to the Elephant Hill Archaeological Tourism Site with P65M proposed fund.

Proposed for Tinglayan is the Bugnay (Mangape)-Buscalan-Loccong-Butbut Proper Road leading to Buscalan Tattoo village where Whang-od "The Last Mambabatok” lives.

In this city is the P77M Balawag-Paligatto access road leading to Banga-Banga Falls and the improvement of the proposed P223M Pinagan-Magnao-Guilayon – Nambucayan Road leading to Namumbungon Water Falls. BY PETER A. BALOCNIT  (PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
