DOH: CAR epidemic level, critical care utilization down to 'low risk'

BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 7 (PIA) - - The   epidemic level of the  Cordillera Region  is down to “low risk” , so with   the critical care utilization rate(CCUR) for Coronavirus Disease patients, according to  Department of Health Center for Health and Development Cordillera (DOH – CAR).  

 

DOH – CAR Regional Director Dr. Ruby Constantino , in the February 5 Joint Coordination meeting of the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Regional Task Force COVID – 19, reported that as of their February 3 data, Cordillera has an Average Daily Attack Rate of 6.43 per 100,000 population and a 2 - week growth rate (Jan 7 – 20 to Jan 21 – Feb. 3) of negative 22 as cases decreased from 2,098 to 1,640 regionwide.

 Abra is under “new normal” risk, Benguet under low risk   while Apayao, Ifugao, Mountain Province and Baguio City are under moderate risk. Kalinga is the remaining province in Cordillera that is under high risk epidemic level, Constantino shared.

Constantino also reported that the CCUR in health facilities in Cordillera is also under low risk at 51 percent, where forward beds where 105 of 222 (47.29 percent) available beds are occupied, Isolation beds utilization is at 51.99 percent (222 out of 427), ICU beds utilization is at 52.17 percent (24 out of 46), while for mechanical ventilator 15 out of 25 or 60 percent are in use.

For utilization in Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs), the region is also under low risk, but there is a need to add more facilities. In some provinces, there are municipalities without DOH assessed/certified TTMFs, she added.

Constantino reiterated the need for people to remain vigilant and continue to strictly adhere to the minimum health standards and safety protocols set to protect themselves and their families.

In the  joint CRDRRMC – RTF meeting, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the  Interior and Local Government, Department of Agriculture and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration also provided reports on the COVID – 19 response actions and government assistance being implemented; the National Economic Development Authority on economic and recovery/rehabilitation plans updates while  the Philippine Information Agency reported on the risk communication being implemented.

CRDRRMC and RTF COVID – 19 Chairperson Albert Mogol outlines that the coordination meetings    regularly being conducted aim to ensure that all plans and actions are being implemented effectively and to look into gaps and challenges that need  to be worked on to provide better service to the people of Cordillera.
