Cordillera RDRRMC sets into motion ‘Oplan Tulong Cagayan’

BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 15 (PIA) - -  The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) sets into motion “Oplan Tulong Cagayan”   to provide augmentation services and assistance to   Cagayan Region that  suffered massive flooding due to Typhoon Ulysses.

 

The CRDRRMC Operation Plan Tulong Cagayan aims to bring in inter-agency efforts to provide assistance in terms of human resources, trained search and rescue, ICS Cadre and Incident Management Teams as well as response equipment.

The Oplan will also bring   food and non food items through the reserves of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office CAR. The office already started a donation drive for such purpose.

The CRDRRMC Emergency Operations Center is also closely coordinating with the EOC of Cagayan Valley and well as with the National DRRM Council to look into the needed augmentation and technical assistance.

Per Initial report from DSWD FOCAR, they will bring family food packs to Cagayan Valley-1,600 from their reserves in Alliwa Gym in Luna, Apayao and 1,000 from their satellite warehouse inside the 503rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Kalinga.

For DOH – CAR, they are currently organizing WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) and Mental Health and Psycho – Social Services (MHPSS) teams for possible deployment to the Cagayan Valley.

Some local government units in the region have already started to provide support to Cagayan in terms of rescue teams and equipment as well as relief assistance.

For Kalinga, the provincial government and the local government units of Tabuk City and Tinglayan already sent teams to support Cagayan Valley.

“While doing our recovery efforts, the CRDRRMC is also in the forefront of providing humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations as part of our commitment to our neighboring Cagayan Valley Region. The strategy of 6Rs – respond immediately, regroup, re-organize, resume operations, reconstitute and return safe, is in effect through Oplan Tulong Cagayan”, CRDRRMC Chairperson and OCD Regional Director Albert Mogol Mogol said.

All CRDRRMC and LGU response actions are also supported by the regional commands of the Philippine National police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Bureau of Fire Protection. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
