LGU Gerona, isinusulong ang pagtangkilik sa mga lokal na produkto

GERONA, Tarlac, Oktubre 20 (PIA) – Isinusulong ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Gerona sa mga nasasakupan nito ang pagtangkilik sa mga lokal na produkto ng bayan upang makatulong sa mga magsasaka. 

Ayon kay Mayor Eloy Eclar, malaki ang naging epekto ng pandemya sa kanilang lokal na ekonomiya kung kaya’t hinihimok ang mga Geronian na bumili ng mga locally-produced na produkto. 
 
Pahayag ng alkalde, bagama’t nagkaroon ng “over supply” at pagbagsak ng mga presyo sa mga gulay, natulungan pa rin ang mga magsasaka sa tulong ng promosyon ng “Buy Local.” 
 
Dagdag ni Eclar, nilimitihan muna ng kanilang munisipalidad ang pag-aangkat ng produkto mula sa ibang lugar kung mayroon namang mabibili sa kanilang bayan. 
 
Ilan sa mga pangunahing produkto ng Gerona ang tubo, sitaw, sili, kamote, singkamas at talong. 
 
Aniya, patuloy rin ang suporta sa mga magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng distribusyon ng libreng palay, punla at organic fertilizer.  Para sa taong ito, nasa dalawang milyong piso ang inilaan na pondo ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Gerona para sa palay. 
 
Bukod sa mga magsasaka, maaari ring humingi ng binhi at pataba sa Municipal Agricultural Office ang mga residenteng nais magtanim ng gulay sa kanilang bakuran. 
 
Giit pa ni Eclar, buo rin ang kanyang suporta sa programang Gulayan sa Barangay na naglalayong mabigyan ng oportunidad ang mga residente na magtanim ng gulay upang mapanatili ang sapat na suplay ng pagkain lalo na sa gitna ng pandemya. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)By Trixie Joy B. Manalili
