NCIP invites IP youth to join in 23rd IPRA anniversary contests

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- The National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) invites IP youths to participate in the different   contests in commemoration of the 23rd   anniversary  of the promulgation of Republic Act Republic Act No. 8371 otherwise known as the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA)   this October.


 The MTV making contest is open to NCIP Educational Assistance Program (EAP) and PAMANA grantees (current and graduates).  With “Suwod Ko” or “Kapatid Ko” by Jerry Angga as background music, the video must not be at least 2:30 minutes and not to exceed 3:30 minutes. The contest will be officially launched on October 1 and last day of submission of entries is on October 9. Last day of online viewing is Oct. 25.

 The Tiktok: Barefoot Challenge must showcase an IP youth wearing casual attire transitioning to indigenous attire using any appropriate ethnic or indigenous music as background. The video must not be more than 30 seconds.  Launching will be on October 1, uploading for public viewing on NCIP facebook page is on October 12 and online viewing is until Oct. 25. Awarding of winners is on Oct. 29.

For the Infographic Video Making contest, it is open to IP students who are in elementary, high school and college level. Entries should be based on the theme, “IPRA @ 23: Correcting Historical Injustice for Indigenous Peoples Rights and Welfare”. It must be educational, interesting and accurate in the form of visual media including digital art, graphic, charts, photographs, illustrations, drawings and paintings presented in infographic video. Entries in MP4 must be submitted on or before Sept. 25.

Another event is the Poster Making contest   for NCIP employees. There are two    categories - Traditional Hard Copy Poster Making Contest and Digital Poster Making Contest based on the theme.

All entries must be received by the contest committee through the Records Section at NCIP Central Office not later than midnight of Oct.  25, 2020.
