The initial units fabricated by TESDA trainers and students are installed within the City Hall grounds. The succeeding units will be installed at Burnham Park, Athletic Bowl, and other strategic locations within the City.
This is one of highlights of the TESDA’s 26th anniversary with the theme “TESDA@26: Bringing Hope in Times of Crisis".
The project was conceptualized in line with the “Greening TVET” program of TESDA which is the strategic entry point for ensuring a world of work that contributes to social cohesion and promotes environmentally sound sustainable development.
It is also in support to the city resolution urging residents to use bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation especially during the general community quarantine when mass transportation is limited. Moreover, cycling also keeps oneself physically fit and it helps improve the city’s air quality.
RTC-Baguio Administrator Belmar G. Angoling said “the installation of this bicycle rack is indeed timely and essential especially this pandemic that we need to comply with the health protocols on social distancing, and at the same time strengthening our immune system through cycling so the installed bicycle racks would be valuable to the people of Baguio”.
Angoling said they also organized the “TESDA Bike Group” to encourage its staff and students to participate in the weekly bikeathon program of the City Government. (with reports from SNP/TESDA-CAR)
