In a statement released by the Health Education and Promotions Unit, the patient has a travel history from Taytay, Rizal and arrived in the city last June 17.
He was immediately subjected to swab test upon arrival as protocol of the Local Government Unit which turned positive today. As of press time, the patient is asymptomatic and now under the care of Southern Isabela Medical Center.
The LGU and local health officials, the police authorities and officials from the Department of the Interior and Local Government are now conducting contact tracing of those who have close contacts with the new COVID-19 patient.
DOH-HEPU also urged public who have contacts with all the active positive cases in the region to cooperate with the surveillance team and contact tracers to fastrack the contact tracing activities.
Patient 49 is the 10th active case in the region, the 8th active case of Isabela province and the second youngest positive case of the region following the 5-year-old boy from Alfonso Castaneda, Nueva Vizcaya.
Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya provinces also have one active case each while Batanes and Quirino remain to be COVID-19 free provinces. (MDCT/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
