The province remains free of COVID-19 but the PHO noted increasing number of persons under monitoring (PUM) and persons under investigation (PUIs). As of March 17, the PHO recorded 12 PUIs and 476 PUMs.
This promoted the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to pass Resolution No. 2020-112 sponsored by the Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Management declaring the province under the state of calamity so that appropriate funds will be utilized for the mitigation and possible consequences of COVID – 19. This came before President Rodrigo Duterte announced the Philippines under state of calamity due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Governor Jerry Dalipog convened the COVID-19 Provincial Task Force to discuss measures for the health and safety of everyone in this time of public emergency.
It was requested that the provincial government purchase additional protective gears for health care providers and other frontliners involved in the fight against the threat of the disease that has spread to more than 100 countries and in several parts of the Philippines.
In the enhanced community quarantine, uniformed personnel check with thermal scanner people passing through checkpoints along the entry and exit points of the province particularly in the towns of Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo, Banaue, Lamut and Tinoc to help prevent local transmission.
