TF Chairperson Governor Maria Jocelyn Bernos during the recent emergency meeting on Covid-19 with the League of the Municipalities and the Liga ng mga Barangay, stressed on the establishment of their own barangay isolation units as she called the attention on the municipality of Boliney and Manabo for not yet complying.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Abra Provincial Office Director Millicent Cariño recapped the responsibilities and roles of mayors and punong barangays in the implementation of precautionary and preventive measure as well as protocols set by the Department of Health.
On containment and control operations, the punong barangays with the point persons must monitor the arrival of residents from areas with confirmed Covid-19 case. She said the immediate reporting to the municipal mayor and concerned rural health staff in a must.
She also stressed the role of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS) to conduct visits to check on the condition of a Person of Interest with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
As local crisis manager, Carino reminded LCEs that they are required to provide appropriate PPEs and medical devices to their BHERTS, police personnel and other health care workers.
Bernos warned LCEs who are neglecting their duties and responsibilities amid the Covid-19 threat that they will face administrative sanctions under laws.
Meanwhile, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Cristian V. Cabrera urged all the LCEs to heighten their alert with their contact persons designated to monitor and screen travelers from Covid-19 infected countries, provinces or cities.
To date, the positive Covid-19 patient from Abra, the first confirmed case in the Cordillera region, is now in stable condition .(JDP/CAGT- PIA CAR, Abra)
