So explained Engr. Danilo Daguio, Regional Technical Director for Operations of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera, to rice farmers of Aguinaldo, Asipulo, Kiangan and Lamut. The RTL, he said, is pro-farmer which provides opportunity for them to earn more and be at par with other farmers in neighboring countries.
“With the effectivity of the RTL, the government has provided Php10 billion a year under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) for the provision of farm machineries and equipment, certified seeds, training and other forms of assistance to farmers,” he said.
Preferential attention is given to rice farmers, cooperatives or associations registered to the Registry System for Basic Services in Agriculture (RSBSA) and affected by the RTL.
Through the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) Program, aid is provided to small holder rice farmers with farm areas ranging from 0.5 to two hectares and currently registered to the RSBSA.
Daguio led the awarding of Php5, 000 each to a total of 626 qualified farmers from Aguinaldo, Asipulo, Kiangan and Lamut. received provided by DA
He informed that DA is updating the RSBA so he enjoined other unregistered farmers to register to avail related government programs and services. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
