Chilagan said there is a need to establish biosecurity measures in order to protect swine backyard raisers in the municipality against ASF.
The task force consists of the municipal veterinarian as chairperson and municipal agriculturist as co-chairperson. Members are the municipal health officer, municipal sanitary inspector, municipal nutritionist and the chief of police.
The task force is tasked to set-up quarantine check-point in all ingress and egress of the municipality and prohibit the entry of live animals, meat products and by-products unless it has a veterinary health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian and shipping permit issued by the Bureau of Animal Industry.
It will also monitor and report any unusual number of swine mortalities in the municipality and educate or advice swine farmers to observe good animal husbandry practices and biosecurity measures. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
