Over 5,000 aspirants in Region 1 to take DOST scholarship exam

DAGUPAN CITY, Oct. 3 (PIA) – A total of 5,786 potential science and technology scholars will flock to various testing centers in Ilocos Region to take the 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on October 20 this year.

 

Alexa Apostol, science research specialist of DOST-Pangasinan, said some 3,331 examinees registered in Pangasinan; 1,081 in La Union; 776 in Ilocos Sur and 598 in Ilocos Norte.

She said examinees from Pangasinan will take their examination at the following venues: Abong na Alumni of the Dagupan City National High School in Dagupan City, Alaminos City Gymnasium, Social Hall of Pangasinan National High School in Lingayen town, 3rd Floor of Balikbayan Hall in Urdaneta City, Events Center of Panpacific University of North Philippines in Urdaneta City, and Convention Hall of Pangasinan State University in Lingayen town.

“For La Union aspirants, examination will be conducted at the Eriguel Hall of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus in Agoo town, and at the gymnasium and Social Center of Saint Louis College in San Fernando City,” she said.

For Ilocos Norte, examinees should be in testing centers located at the Social Center, MMSU-CTEX and Rooms 205, 206, and 207 of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU)-College of Technical Education in Laoag City, while Ilocos Sur examinees will take their examination at the gymnasium of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College in Sta. Maria town, and at the Tadena Hall and Academic Building of the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan City.

“Qualifiers to the scholarship program will receive a monthly living allowance amounting to P7,000, book allowance worth P5,000 per semester, tuition and other school fees worth P20,000 every semester, transportation reimbursement for actual fare one round economy trip per semester for those who will study outside their home province, premium group health and accident insurance plus P1,000 allowance for uniform for first semester for first year students only and upon graduation, they will also receive graduation clothing allowance worth P1,000,” she said.

Likewise, Apostol advised all examinees to check and be aware of their examination schedules and rooms posted in DOST Facebook pages and put their test permits, school ID, pencils and other requirements together in a bag.

She added that during the examinatin on October 20, examinees should focus on their examination, check their questionnaires if there are missing pages or markings, fill up the necessary information in their examination sheets and be wise in answering and give their best to pass the exam.
