PNP Ilocos regional director, Brig. Gen. Joel Orduña said the cases were filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office in San Carlos City based on “sufficient forensic examination and other pieces of evidence.”
Tagged in the ambush were Albert Palisoc, alias “Alvin Pascaran/Mark Anthony Palisoc;” Armando Frias, alias “Jong;” Benjie Resultan; Joey Ferrer; Ronnie de los Santos; Gerry Pascua alias “Kagawad Guapo;” Sherwin Diaz; Teofilo Ferrer, alias “Pong;” a certain Russel, alias “Sel;” Jewel Castro; John Paul Regalado; Alfred Pascaran; and 10 other ‘John Does’ as masterminds, financiers, conspirators and accessories to the murder case.
Castro and Regalado are the owners of the two vehicles reportedly used by the assailants, police said.
But even with the filing of cases, Orduña said they had yet to close the case as investigators of the Regional Special Investigation Task Group (RSITG) were still trying to identify the mastermind.
“We are not yet considering this case closed as we are still in the process of identifying the mastermind in case we have enough evidence,” Orduña said during the press conference held at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) here.
Orduña said the motive of the attack remains unkown but the police is looking on all issues, including politics, business rivalry and personal grudge.
“It is the 20th day of the case, marami pang gagawin. Nakapag-file na tayo ng kaso sa mga suspects pero ang legwork hindi pa tapos and we will go deeper until such time we will arrest all those involved,” Orduña explained.
Meanwhile, families of Espino’s driver, Agapito Cuison, and security aide, Richard Esguerra, who perished after the ambush, were thankful to the police for their efforts in running after the suspects.
“Salamat sa inyong lahat, ang hangad ko tålaga ay katarungan para sa anak ko,” said Pacita Esguerra, mother of the slain cop.
PPPO Provincial Director Redrico Maranan said that the police has released the P300,000 financial assistance from the President’s Social Pension Fund, that is due their fallen comrade, Esguerra.
A burial assistance of P100,000 from the Office of the President was also given to the bereaved family while the provincial government extended financial assistance for Cuison. (AMB/VHS/PIA Pangasinan)
