"We thank the government through the Bases Conversion and Development Authority for these wonderful facilities,” two-time Southeast Asian Games Gold medalist and Philippine Olympic Committee Athlete’s Commission Chairperson Nikko Huelgas said.
"As the years go by, hopefully we open our own velodrome, baseball field, gymnastics, and with that we create better sports facilities for all our national athletes," he added.
Huelgas noted that through Triathlon, athletes like him get to promote these new sports facilities that cater not only the national athletes but also every Filipino who dreams of becoming an athlete someday.
Sports facilities at NCC include the 2,000-seater Aquatics Center and 20,000-seater Athletics Stadium. Both meet the standards of their respective international governing bodies namely the Federation Internationale de Natation and International Association of Athletics Federations.
Apart from these, NCC also has a 525-room Athletes’ Village. It has gym amenities, kitchen and dining areas, conference rooms, and other recreational facilities. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
