The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast tracking concreting works to pave way for the construction of the Dumanay bridge, a vital link to reach the seat of the municipal government at Banagao, Mangali.
District Engineer David Buliyat of the DPWH-Lower Kalinga Engineering District Office (LKDEO) said two sections of the road on the Lubo side with total project cost of more than Php144 million are targeted to be completed this August. He said concreting will continue until Banagao after the completion of the bridge.
He assured that construction of the Dumanay bridge will be fast tracked now that travel of equipment and transport of supplies and materials to project site is easier with the paved road.
It can be recalled that the completion of the Dumanay bridge was delayed due to constraints in transporting materials to project site.
“As soon as traffic reach Banagao, we will continue opening the road up to Gaang,” Buliyat assured.
Paved roads will enable farmers to transport their produce easier to the market and enhance income opportunities of the people in this fourth class municipality. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
