PRC Benguet to hold bloodletting activity on July 31

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, July 29 (PIA) - - In celebration of the Blood Donors’ Month with the theme  “Save Life for All,” the Philippine Red Cross provincial chapter in partnership with the local blood council will lead a bloodletting activity  at the municipal gym here on Wednesday, July 31.

Interested blood donors are invited to   be part of this activity to ensure adequate blood supply to save lives of those in need.

The chapter was only able to achieve 28 percent or 1,261 units of its target accomplishment of 4,462 or one percent of the population for the first semester this year.  It was able to serve 758 patients and utilized 1,456 blood units.

The dispersed blood units were more than the available supply of 1,261 units. The deficit was sourced out from other nearby chapter areas like La Union and Pangasinan, according to Provincial Chapter Administrator Oscar Paris.

The chapter is exploring possibilities of partnering with agencies, institutions and volunteer blood donors. A memorandum of agreement will be   forged with agencies and institutions to make the partnership binding.

During the culminating activity of the Blood Donors Month, PRC recognizes its partners in the voluntary blood services program.

The events on July 31 will kick off with a motorcade around the capital town. (JDP/SCA-PIA-CAR, Benguet)
