Islam teacher Imam Jamael Usodan said the Muslim community in Baguio City and nearby areas was blessed with a good weather for the mass gathering and prayers or the traditional Salat al-Eid or the special prayers of Muslim men and women offered to commemorate the Islamic festivals traditionally in an open space.
Usudon said their prayers include the attainment of unity and peace in the country particularly in the conflict areas of Mindanao.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte, in his Eid’l Fitr message, called on all Muslim Filipinos to deepen their role as instruments of love, respect, and selfless service.
"Take this as an opportunity to deepen your role as instruments of love, sacrifice, respect, and selfless service and may each of you remain our government’s partner in promoting peace and understanding among Filipinos from all walks of life,” he said.
