PRO – Cor reports improved peace and order situation

LAGAWE Ifugao, June 25 (PIA) - - The Police Regional Office –Cordillera(PRO-Cor) reports a better peace and order situation in the region  for the first five months of this year compared to the same period in 2018 with crime volume down by 18.59 percent.

 

PSSupt. Homer Penecilla during the 2nd Quarter joint Regional Development Council – Regional Peace and Order Council here reported 3,132 crime incidents of which    61 percent is comprised of  vehicular, traffic accidents,  20% index crimes and  29%  non – index crimes.

In terms of index crime, the 462 cases recorded all over the region from January to May are down by 44.60% compared to the 834 cases recorded during the same period in 2017.

Penecilla also reported an improved clearance efficiency of 82.06% and Crime Solution Efficiency of 74.20%, which are up by 2.39 and 6.28%, respectively compared to the first five months of 2017.

The May 14, 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election was also the most peaceful election conducted in the region, he added.

Penecilla affirmed a continuing intensified anti – illegal drugs and anti – criminality campaign, as well as an internal discipline drive to ensure a corrupt-free police regional office.

In the joint RDC – RPOC, the council also approved the passing of a resolution for the commendation of the Baguio City Police Office for the recognition of Baguio as among the safest city in Southeast Asia and the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office for maintaining a zero drug affected barangay.

PRO – Cor Regional Director PCSupt. Rolando Nana lauded both BCPO and the Mountain Province PPO for achieving the feat and challenged them, along with the other provincial commands in the region to continue the serious campaign against criminality and illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Drug Enforcement  Agency   presented an update on the anti – illegal drugs campaign in the region,  the Philippine Army on peace and security and  the Department of Environment and Natural Resources   on the campaign against illegal logging. (PIA CAR)
