BSP to establish Knowledge Resource Collections at Ifugao capitol

LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 13 (PIA) - - The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is set to establish and maintain its Knowledge Resource Collections (KRC) at the provincial capitol here  following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the provincial government.  

 

SIgning for the  BSP  is  Beta A. Cervantes, Deputy Director, BSP-La Union Regional Office, and Governor Pedro  Mayam-o for the provincial government.

KRC is part of the BSP’s continuing implementation of the Knowledge Resource Network (KRN) that aims to enhance the public’s understanding of economic and financial concepts and issues, thus empowering them to contribute more meaningfully to economic development and benefit better from the opportunities that such development would bring.

In partnership with libraries of the local government units, national agencies and academic institutions all over the country, BSP has been setting up KRCs which house updated BSP publications such as books, reports, guides, manuals, primers and brochures, and provide access to online publications and research assistance services to the public.

The MOU stated that the BSP will provide print materials and other information as well as online materials and publications through its website. These information resources and services will be made available to the local communities for free.

 BSP will orient also designate librarians from Network member-libraries on the nature of information resources and services available at the Economics and Financial Learning Center (EFLC) of BSP La Union Regional Office including its website and conduct periodic review and evaluation of the effectiveness of the program.

 The PLGU will provide space, staff, furniture, shelves and information technology equipment needed in the KRC; catalog all BASP publications provided and make them discoverable on their library systems and available for use by the library clients; designate a librarian as the main contact person and monitor usage of BSP information materials and research requests filed, and submit quarterly reports including feedback from the users.
