A.Lista farmers organization receives livelihood aid

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao, Aug.7 (PIA) - - A farmers’ organization  here recently  received a livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) under the Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) recently.


DOLE-Ifugao Field Officer Dr. Avelina Manganip   led the turned-over the check worth P551, 254.00 to the Mabanutan Naponglot Organization (MABANOR), a farmers’ organization in barangay Namnama for the purchase equipment for livelihood purposes.

The  purchased equipment include  large cooking pots, big-sized laddles and stainless table and three sugarcane extraction machines to be used for muscovado sugar production and fruit wine making.

Dave Damuyan of DOLE-Ifugao reiterated to the members the content of the memorandum of agreement and the requirements for sustainability of the project. “Aside from good product quality and food safety, your good financial accounting will be the basis of your performance,” he said.

Manganip also enjoined the organization to perform well and the officers must know their responsibilities to promote transparency and factual observations within the organization. “You are all accountable for your organization and not only the officers. I expect that you will manage your business very well,”

Mayor Glenn Prudenciano reminded the organization members of their undertakings and challenged them to sustain the project and value the assistance of DOLE and other line-agencies.

“Make use of these opportunities and never waste these chances to improve your family’s living conditions. Work to build your livelihood center as we also work of gradually concreting the road to your place,” said Prudenciano.

MABANOR was formed in 2014 by the Social Action Development Center of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe with 36 farmers who started with three hectares of sugar cane plantation. It expanded to 52 members in 2016 with Noel Loriamas as its president. It is being supervised by Rowena Ngitew, SADC Community facilitator. (JDP/MBL/LAD-LGU Alfonso Lista)
