Ifugao PNP attributes decreasing crimes to police- community partnership

LAGAWE, Ifugao, July 31 (PIA) - -The decreasing crime volume in the province can be attributed to the exceptional partnership between the police and the community.

Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Constancio Chinayog, Jr. reported this during the first “kapihan” held at the Ifugao Provincial Police Office on July 24, which aside from peace and order situation also tackled Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN).

From January to June 2017, a total of 214 crime incidents was recorded compared to the 310 cases in the same period in 2016, the police reported.

This is largely ascribed to the sustained efforts undertaken by Ifugao police provincial office (IPPO) in engaging local government units and multi-sectoral groups. However, Ifugao PNP needs to sustain the capability and capacity build-up efforts to polish the skills of investigators and case officers in the management of serious crimes as to their crime solution efficiency.

PSupt. Allan Guyguyon, meanwhile, enjoined the punong barangays of Poblacions East, North, South, West including barangays Burnay, Boliwong, Cudog and Tunggod to support the peace and order program of the PNP by not allowing the presence of armed groups or underground revolution in their respective areas.

The village leaders assured the PNP their support and reiterated that they are also strictly implementing municipal and barangays ordinances for the maintenance of peace and order in the municipality and the province as a whole.

In the same forum, Philippine Information Agency- Ifugao Information Center Manager Marcelo Lihgawon briefly discussed ASEAN particularly its overview and the Philippine Chairmanship in 2017, the thematic priorities and its importance to Filipinos and the ASEAN community.

The  country’s hosting of the ASEAN 30th and 31st ASEAN Summits  this year coincides with a historical milestone of ASEAN which is celebrating its 50th founding anniversary on August 8.

He also promoted the programs and services of  PIA and enjoined barangay and police officials and the local media to support government  activities and programs  for community empowerment and nation building. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
