Ancillary buildings of Ifugao General Hospital undergoing construction

LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 28 (PIA)- -  Construction of the ancillary buildings    of  the  new Ifugao General Hospital   is on going while concerned agencies settle the structural integrity issues of the main building of the hospital.

 

Governor Pedro G. Mayam-o shared in an interview during the Gotad Ad Ifugao 2017 that the Department of Health (DOH) released Php68 million for the construction of the Outpatient Department, Dietary, medical art, and powerhouse among others.  Construction started last February of this year and is expected to be completed before the year ends.

DOH-Cordillera Regional Director Lakshmi Legaspi also bared that DOH has allotted Php 520, 000 for the testing of the structural soundness of the main building of the hospital. Construction of the main building will resume after compliance with the recommendations based on said test. The agency had terminated the construction of the Phase II of the hospital in 2015 due to questions of its structural integrity.

Legaspi further shared that DOH-CAR regional office already sent a letter regarding the notice of disallowance which was issued by the Commission on Audit (COA) due to the discrepancy in payment of Phase 2 of the hospital’s main building, in which DOH was the implementing agency. Legaspi said the region is still waiting for reply from COA.

DOH Undersecretary Mario Villaverde, guest speaker during the Ifugao 51st Founding Anniversary and Gotad Ad Ifugao Grand Program, inspected the hospital and assured that concerns about the construction of the hospital will reach Health Secretary Pauline Ubial.

He said the DOH aims not only to improve hospitals but also to upgrade of health centers and barangay health stations.  DOH is giving support for the enhancement of district hospitals in Ifugao, he informed. (JDP/Jamie Malingan-PIA CAR)
