Gotad Ad Ifugao 2017 opens

LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 15 (PIA) - - The 2017 Gotad Ad Ifugao that coincides with the 51st founding anniversary celebration of the province opened smoothly yesterday here with the full participation of all the municipalities and the different government and non-government agencies.


With the theme “Ipaptok Tau’y Ifugao”” which means let us take care or nurture Ifugao, the celebration began with a civic parade around this capital town. It was followed by an opening program at the Capitol Plaza.

Other activities included the opening of the Agri-Industrial and Tourism Trade Fair,  Indigenous Culinary Arts Competition, photo exhibits, basketball and volleyball competitions among the different municipalities,  Balikbayan Day celebration and free concert by Filipino artist Noel Cabangon.

Unlike the previous celebrations which were characterized with bad weather, this year was blessed with a very fair weather which was happily savored by the Ifugao people.

Now on its second day, the events include the Marathon in G-String, On-the-Spot Ethnic Skills Competition such as the Mun-abol, Mundakdak hi Bihibiyan, Munlagga kubi, Munpaot or woodcarving, Muntalakid hi Bilau and Muntuknul, demonstration on bamboo woodcarving and   Bugan and Wigan fashion show featuring Ifugao inspired creations.
