DOT, Davis Paints to enhance Ifugao tourist destinations

BANAUE, Ifugao, May 24 (PIA) - - Two tourist destinations here will soon be enhanced through the Department of Tourism in the Cordillera and Davis Paint (DP) in partnership with the local government unit (LGU).

The Bocos and Batad Rice Terraces Village Innovation and Enhancement Project which was launched recently by the DOT-CAR, DP and LGU-Banaue, will transform the two tourist destinations into a unified natural landscape expressing the harmony between man and nature.

The collaborative project is under the Rev-Bloom initiative of  the DOT-CAR that aims to revamp and re-bloom the rich Cordillera region into a sustainable eco-tourist site and DP’s ‘Color of the Philippines’  campaign geared towards promoting the country’s landscape, people and culture by beautifying and re-painting communities across the nation.

Approximately 12,000 square meters of rooftops and walls will be painted at the Batad Rice Terraces Village and approximately 15,000 square meters of rooftops at the Bocos village. Each home will be painted with viridian green and earth hues to complement the lush mountains creating a stunning view reminiscent of a vast landscape painting.

DOT-CAR and Davies paint officials explained that Batad and Bocos stand out for showcasing the untouched views of the Cordillera mountain range, home to well-preserved terrains, pristine waterfalls and rivers and most of all a warm-hearted villagers.

Batad is contoured like a vast natural amphitheatre composed of rice terraces, making it a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site while Bocos is a quaint town brimming with life and culture in a land situated among the soaring mountains. By Marcelo B. Lihgawon (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
